About BitShift

First and foremost, thank you for taking your time to investigate BitShift!

BitShift Technologies exists to help small to midsize businesses with custom software development, IT deployment projects, task automation, as well as any other technical issues or opportunities that may arise.

My name is Nate Spence; I'm an independent consultant bringing a considerably broad skillset to bat. I love tackling unique jobs where there isn't a defined specialist in the field (or that specialist happens to be charging absurd prices). I'm a firm believer that variety is the spice of life, and I love helping people with new projects to build and scale their businesses. From Cybersecurity testing, to ERP integrations; PLC programming to web development; game design to database architecture; if it involves software I've probably dealt with it in some capacity. If I'm not fluent, I can usually at least pick out the right words to help you ask the right questions. Small business has provided me the freedom to pursue the meaningful endeavors that fill my life, on my schedule. As such, I hope to support those freedoms for as many small business owners as possible. Before starting BitShift, I worked in offensive cybersecurity as well as simulation development, yet also have substantial nonprofessional experience from academic and hobby projects that I've been involved with since I was in elementary school.

BitShift is based in Tavares, West of Orlando 40 minutes. I commute around the area often, and am able to come onsite to help with various deployments and projects on your schedule.

If you have any questions or would like a free consultation, please reach out! I'd be more than happy to provide references upon request. Thank you for your time, and best of luck with whatever endeavors the future holds for you!

For Small Businesses

If you're not ready to pull the trigger on a full-time IT position, but are looking for help on a low-cost, ad-hoc basis, look no further! Given how quickly a small business can run itself into the ground due to restricted cashflow, BitShift prides itself on your ability to cancel services anytime, no strings attached.

Often, a number of time-saving advancements can be made via automating your business workflow that aren't obvious without a background in Information Technology. A free consultation can point out these areas of improvement, and identify which solutions will provide the greatest value-to-cost ratio.

I'm available to work under either a project-based agreement or an hourly-based general services contract. Rates are negotiable, and I'm always excited to take on a new challenge. Regardless of the option that you choose, an initial consultation will be provided free of charge.

"Yeah, I'm Sure I Can Figure That Out"

~Your new favorite tagline to hear.

While technology is ever-changing, core principles stay the same. Don't let some hotshot MSP convince you that you need a dedicated account manager, seven project charters, and a massive retainer fee to get your project done. Having access to personnel that can deploy and configure IT assets, write custom software, and automate repetitive workflows for your company saves time, money, headaches, and boosts the professionalism of any organization.

Service Offerings

I pride myself on being available as both your first option, and your Hail Mary. Imagine how much more time you could spend working on your business, if you weren't dealing with the hassles of managing the technology in your business.

I am willing to take on any sort of computing or networking problems that you may be dealing with, as I prefer to be a generalist. Below, you can find both my consulting arrangements and lists of previous projects, certifications, and skillsets. For reference, just because something isn't on this list, doesn't mean that I'm not hoping to add it soon.

I am rather flexible in my arrangements, yet operate under two models to keep things simple.

Project-based Consulting

My preferred work arranagement is to bill on a per-project basis. This begins with an initial consultation where we can determine the requirements for the project. Afterwards, you will receive a lightweight project proposal including deliverables and estimated time to be spent on the project. You will not be billed for more than the bottom line, and if the project fails you will not be billed.

Hourly-based Consulting

If you have a variety of jobs that need to be completed and don't want to deal with the hassle of a project-based work arrangement, I can bill by the hour. In doing so, you will receive a monthly invoice outlining how many hours were billed as well as their purpose. I bill by the quarter-hour, and do not charge for travel unless otherwise noted.
